HISTORY: The creation of Health Improvement Foundation of America Inc. (HIFA) – a nonprofit organization – is rooted in the death of a close couple in Ramsey County. The husband, aged 50, died of Kidney Failure. A year after the wife, aged 40, also died from Lung Cancer. They left behind three orphans who are now in our organization’s care. The death of this couple and millions of other Americans who have died from chronic diseases prompted HIFA to research and finally adopt the best idea of addressing the challenge of chronic diseases – using the preventive approach. Chronic diseases such as various Cancers, Heart diseases, Lung Diseases, Kidney Diseases, Diabetes, Mental Diseases, etc. have overwhelmed our society. Everybody, including children, are at risk of contracting any of them. Many of the chronic diseases result from preventable diseases or conditions which could have been corrected through early intervention or healthy living. HIFA was therefore created to prevent chronic diseases, promote the people’s health and their health rights.
